Nature's Gallery

Painted Gold, originally uploaded by susanvg.
Slowly we glide through a living art gallery
the work of Mother Nature
Sky and sea seamlessly meeting
on the glassy waters
An impressionist painting by Monet
Ice Sculpture
Sailing past the sculpture garden
with icy creations crafted by Henry Moore
Chiselled and smoothed into a myriad of forms
Constantly changing as they travel in the currents
Moon Rise
A Japanese print hung behind the ship
The moon peered down on dark water
Ice floes instead of white caps
The sky painted with pastels
Now I know that Lauren Harris
Painted what I saw
Polished towers of ice
Sculpted by the ocean waters
Golden Glow
The golden yellow sun
Drenched the hills on Devon Island
A surreal landscape by Dali
The moon hung overhead

The light paints this open canvas
With an Arctic palette
Ever changing
Ephemeral art of the moment.

  1. This "ephemeral art of the moment" is the best kind, and the type Nature is so masterful at creating. I tried to pick a favorite among your shots, but each is a gem. They give me goosebumps, Susan! What a trip you had!

  2. Extremely beautiful photos, I viewed them over and over!

  3. These are so amazing! You really make it real for those of us who were not on your trip. I never thought this would be a trip I'd like to go on but your pictures and words have me thinking otherwise.

  4. Wow! Every single one of these captures are stunning! I think you need to make a book from many of your photos when you return!

  5. Incredible photography, and how interestingly you weave together and find connection between what you saw and art around the world.
