Grey, rainy days can get me down after a while but sometimes clouds are joyful. This cloud just seemed to be saying, "Look at me" as it floated over the city and then off, leaving a smile on my face.

I looked up and saw the golden evening light. The clouds glowed. As I always have my camera with me, I snapped a photograph. Later when I looked at it on the LCD screen, I wondered about the black dots on the photograph. It was only when I zoomed in that I realized that these birds flew over just as I snapped the picture. Serendipity - it made for a much more interesting image.
Sometimes we are so intent on seeing one thing that we miss what's really there. We see what we want to see. But this photo allowed me to look anew.
Nature paints with a joyous brush
Streaks across the sky
I've been looking at her artistry
On the newly painted leaves
and in granite slabs
That tell the story of millions of years of upheaval
I'm not sure
we can ever match her creativity
She has such a large canvas
To play on.
The wind blew all day, rapidly changing the weather. The morning sun was soon covered by clouds, first light then ever darker. Later the rain, driven by the wind, pelted down, sometimes almost sideways. By 5:00 these dark clouds hovered, threateningly, but the sun came through some thinning patches. I love the contrasts in light this created. Everything light-coloured was highlighted, everything dark seemed to grow darker still.
Spring storm.
