Natural Gems

Autumn bring out the spiders. Lacy webs show up in the garden, on windows, wherever these arachnids think they will be successful at luring their prey. Tiny gems decorated these fine filaments. No jeweler could replicate this delicate creation.



If one could it would be his or her masterpiece yet, for a spider, this is just one of many.

I love the seasons that bring these ephemeral events - leaves that one day shout to be admired, lie drying on the ground the next. Fall is a season of celebration. Thanks, Mother Nature, for your daily delights!

Water droplets, still a constant in our lives - but we live with droplets, not hail, not tornadoes, not hurricanes. And, unlike the nearby Richelieu Valley, we are not experiencing flooding. Everything is lush. The grass seems to grow faster than you can mow it. Leaves are reaching their fullness. It is just people who wilt under the greyness.

Sunny days are coming. I'm off to the market to get those annuals that fill in the holes in my mainly perennial garden.

Water droplets slide down the icy surface adding to the girth of the icicles. Some escape dripping onto whatever is below. Each night the icicles get longer. In daytime, the sun warms the air. Freeze and thaw; freeze and thaw. Winter constantly changes the scene, dropping snow, sculpting ice and melting.

With longer days the sun's warmth is starting to be felt. What felt cold in the fall as the seasons changed, now feels warm as we slowly move towards spring. The seasons have their rhythm played each year with variations.
