Magnolia -again

Why another magnolia shot? I'll just let it speak for itself.

I had to stop and look. A magnolia just demands attention. Spring is rushing into summer weather. You can almost watch the changes happening. By afternoon when I passed this tree the blooms were wide open. You have to appreciate these while they are there for the wind and the rain may make their stay short-lived.

Every year I am enchanted by the magnolias. I have discovered this year they are hardier than I thought. Our snow of two days ago which brought down branches of trees assaulted these flowers too. But the shook it off and with the sun shining once more, they reach up towards it. Ephemera - these delicate-looking blooms last but a short time, but their yearly visit takes my breath away.

This time of year I find myself documenting every change happening outside. This magnolia tree is beginning to bloom ahead of schedule due to our unseasonably warm temperatures. This week will be a little cooler so it may slow things down. Spring lets us watch life happen quickly as the spring blossoms appear so briefly then die off to let the next process begin. While plants flourish in summer, the changes are not so fast. Spring brings a frenzy of growth.

With temperatures reaching 30C (86F) today, spring burst forth. Daffodils, tulips and magnolias have all gone into production, their blossoms baked into blooming by the sun. Magnolias that were closed in the morning sat on branches like butterflies sunning their wings. A few have already shed some of their petals. Tomorrow we expect more seasonable weather which, hopefully, will slow down the process so we can enjoy these magnificent magnolias a little longer.
