Benches in the Sunshine

Benches in the Sun

I like the rhythm of lines - maybe it is from reading so much music - I can picture notes running up and down, playing a soundtrack to the sunny day. Patterns, repetition, modulation, turning the theme around as the shadows echo and change the melody.

We are having unseasonably warm temperatures and the snow seems to be disappearing before our eyes. The park benches will soon fill up with people enjoying outdoor life. The local cafes are putting out their tables and chairs. People are enjoying the first warm rays of sun.

Warmer weather has brought people out. Cafes have put their tables outside and the benches in parks have started to be occupied. I passed a person sitting and chatting on the phone, another reading a newspaper and another just enjoying the feeling of warmth from the sun. Here in Montreal, it's day by day - but on the sunny ones, people take advantage of every bit of warmth the sun can send.

Waiting for Spring

Slowly the snow is retreating. The sun's rays feel warmer, but still not warm enough to enjoy a leisurely sit outdoors. These benches watch the wading pool, filled with mini snow hills. Spring will come.
