More to Come

More to Come by susanvg

It's starting - the snow is expected to intensify and drop up to 25 cm (almost 10") over the next 24 hours. March is such a tease. One day can be above freezing, the sidewalks bare and the smell of spring in the air and then winter strikes again.

A Little Rhythm

At least the intense cold has broken, though nights can still be quite chilly. Well - we take what we get, venture out and find the beauty and are fortunate enough to come home to a warm abode, with a hot cup of tea to warm our own interiors!

Sandals in March

Pasty white legs which have been covered all winter are visible in the May weather in March. The thermometer in my car registered

Temperature

That's more than 20°C higher than normal (previous record high 16°C). It was cause for a stop at Bilboquet for a mini ice cream. I sat watching people pass by in summer dresses. It all feels surreal.

Spring Temperatures

It was the first day of real spring temperatures. The "mountain" was buzzing with people enjoying the bright sunshine. People walked, with coats thrown open, feeling the warmth. While some hardy souls jogged in shorts, others donned their cross-country skis to enjoy going off the main trails.

Chickadee

The sound of melting was everywhere accompanied by the songs of birds as they too relished the weather. The fast-motion changes of spring are starting. There will be cold days and nights ahead, but spring is on its way!

Stop and Enjoy

Though this bench was empty, others had people stopping to watch the birds, read a book or just sit and feel the joy.

Day 66: Feeling Deflated

Day 66: Feeling Deflated, originally uploaded by susanvg.

Do you ever feel tired and down? You think the morning after is bad? Imagine the season after! Sometimes you just need a pick-me-up. Spring is coming but there is no spring left in this fellow's feet. Walking in the warmer weather was like a breath of fresh air - he needs more than a breath of air in him to revive.

A remnant of another season, ready to be put away, but hanging on until all the snow is gone. I wonder if he'll be back next winter.
