These are hardy souls - it was cold (though they didn't have to take their gloves off to skate - photography was brutal). The lights around the rink were just coming on and the African music helped to heat up the atmosphere.
You seemed to have captured this shot at a perfect time of day. I love the lighting.The skaters were definitely not the only hardy souls out and about.
The glow from the sky reflected on the ice is wonderful. It sets a beautiful winter tableau. In my mind, I start making up a story about this scene.
