Looking Back Looking Forward

The Montreal Recorder Society is moving to a new location for all its activities. The society began in 1963. I joined in 1988. Initially we met once a month for sight-reading sessions with a director and had 2 workshops a year. Now there are 6 levels of groups from beginner to a concert ensemble, Flutissimo of which I am a member. Not only does the society give its members many opportunities to play music together and perform, but it also gives the many wonderful recorder teachers in Montreal an chance to share their love of the instrument. They supplement their income, attract more private students and cultivate audience for their performances. It's a win-win for all.
Small beginnings take time to germinate. The society is now flourishing.
