Maple Seeds

Finally, we got out our snow shoes - the first time this almost snowless winter. It was wonderful to tramp through the snow and stop and enjoy the woods. These maple seed pods still cling to the branch, waiting for spring.

Snow Clings

The fresh snow stuck in crevices, on ledges and in clumps on the branches of trees. It created snowy sculptures.

Snowy Shape

Like the seed pods, a few dry leaves still hang on. So much to notice as we make our way through the woods.

  1. I like your woodsy finds, Susan. The monochrome of winter's soft palette appeals to me.

  3. Funny how we put these things into our own contexts. I immediately thought of a giant moth we get here- with big brown wings like that.
