May 8/10: Trillium

May 8/10: Trillium, originally uploaded by susanvg.

The sun shines
On the rain-washed flowers
which carpet the forest floor
I look in every direction
And see their bright white faces
Dotting the ground
Trilliums

They call me to the woods
To honour their brief stay
I must linger a while
To smile back at them.

  1. Wonderful shot of Ontario's flower. I have several spots in the garden for them and they are cherished.

  3. Wow, beautiful! Peg LOVES trilliums! They are a pretty flower. We have them in Quebec City but not in such abundance. Not that I've seen anyway.

  5. I'm inspired. My macro lens has been just sitting there on my desk gathering dust but this coming weekend, it will get some action.
The colors in your photos and in your poem are alive, Sue.

  6. Now, this is soothing - both the poem and the flower. It looks as though they're growing as far as the eye can see - truly a carpet.
